Library Catalog Information on the Web

Students and Teachers now have
Anywhere, Anytime Access to Library Resources

Students at the Mount will have an easier time finding books and other learning resources, thanks to a new web-based program the library has just implemented.
Destiny Library Manager™, which went on line January 5th, allows students at home or at school to search for books and resources in the school library at anytime from anywhere.
This new catalog system has enhanced Destiny with a number of additional features. With the TitlePeek feature, students will actually be able to view the book cover online and preview information such as title profile, table of contents, brief summary, author notes, first chapter or excerpt, published reviews and more. With One Search, users will be able to look for information both in the library collection and in information databases the library maintains, all with a single search.
The new catalog system additionally allows students to remotely check the status of the books they have checked out, check fine totals, renew books and reserve books that are currently checked-out.
Destiny, which is produced by Follett Software Company in McHenry, Ill., is the most widely used school district library solution in the country, currently in use in one out of every four U.S. schools. The software, which has won several national awards, allows schools to maintain a library management system which is shared with all users via the web.
The new catalog system has some features that will also make my life much easier, said librarian Bro. Luke Clinton O.S.B. “When cataloging new books all I have to do is enter the ISBN number and I can download the entire MARC record for the book from the internet and then add it into the catalog. It will be a great time saver. The software will also automatically send out emails to students and their parents when items are overdue. These reminders will hopefully lower the number and size of overdue fines. It is just great. I still have allot of setup work to do creating student ID & Passwords, adding email addresses to the databases and things like that. I figure it will take a month or so before I have everything running like I like it. I'll post a notice to the students when various features become available.

The libraries home page has also been renovated. Follow the link on the schools homepage to the library site and checkout our Destiny catalog and new web page.
