ADVANCED PLACEMENT SCHOLARS

      The College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement (AP) Examinations has named eight students at Mount Michael Benedictine High SchoolAP Scholars. Founded in 1900, the association is composed of more than 4,300 schools, colleges, universities
and other educational organizations. Each year, the College Board serves over three million students andtheir parents, 23,000 high schools and 3,500 colleges through major programs and services. Eight students at Mount Michael who took AP Examinations in May 2008 performed at a sufficiently high level to merit such recognition.

The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement – the AP Scholar, the AP Scholar with Honors and the AP Scholar with Distinction.

Yong Joon Kim and Luke Weitkempker qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken and achieved grades of 3 or higher on six of these exams.

Zachary Harvat, Jeong Woo Lee, Casey McCullen and Daniel Whitaker qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and achieved grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.

Jerome Prusa and Kyle Vicino qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing 3 or more AP Exams, with grades of 3 or higher.
