Strategic Plan Goals 2015-2020

CATHOLIC/BENEDICTINE IDENTITY

Goal 1: Mount Michael Benedictine School will develop a program that integrates Catholic/Benedictine values into the comprehensive life of the Mount Michael Benedictine School Community.

GOVERNANCE/BOARD

Goal 2: Mount Michael Benedictine School will engage outside counsel to review by-laws and structure of the board to improve lines of communication, participation, and understanding among the school’s constituencies following the normative expectations of a Catholic school board in a monastic setting.

Goal 3: Mount Michael Benedictine School Board will determine a methodology to improve the transparency of the board’s contribution to school life.

ADMINISTRATION AND STAFFING

Goal 4: Mount Michael Benedictine School will recruit, form and maintain a qualified and engaged administration, faculty and staff.

Goal 5: Mount Michael Benedictine School will recruit and professionally develop a team of deans that will provide positive guidance for the development of Mount Michael Benedictine School students.

ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT

Goal 6: Mount Michael Benedictine School will maintain a student population which is approximately 240 students.

CURRICULUM

Goal 7: Mount Michael Benedictine School will engage outside competent counsel to conduct a comprehensive appraisal of the curriculum with an eye toward ensuring that the students are well prepared for higher education and life upon graduation.

STUDENT LIFE

Goal 8: Mount Michael Benedictine School will evaluate the effectiveness of the compulsory freshman participation in sports.

Goal 9: Mount Michael Benedictine School will provide additional student leadership opportunities for students both inside and outside of the school to promote excellence, inclusiveness and service.

Goal 10: Mount Michael Benedictine School will review the 7 day boarding experience as it relates to integration with school and Benedictine community, food and living arrangements, and involvement in activities beyond the school campus.

Goal 11: Mount Michael Benedictine School will continue to encourage a culture of brotherhood regardless of boarding status.

GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING

Goal 12: Mount Michael Benedictine School will design and implement a comprehensive college planning process for all grades involving students, parents, staff, alumni and the monastic community.

Goal 13: Mount Michael Benedictine School will design and implement a holistic personal and social counseling process that meets the needs of every student.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

Goal 14: Mount Michael Benedictine School will continue to grow as a financially sustainable organization to advance the school’s mission.

Goal 15: Mount Michael Benedictine School will recognize the ongoing contributions of the abbey to the school.

FACILITIES

Goal 16: Mount Michael Benedictine School will provide state of the art facilities that promote a comprehensive 21st century education that attracts the best students and educators.

Goal 17: Mount Michael Benedictine School in association with the facilities committee will develop a flexible, prioritized plan for construction and renovation that can be implemented in phases based upon fundraising and the school schedule.

Goal 18: Mount Michael Benedictine School will develop a campus tactical plan to immediately address safety, liability and deferred maintenance matters.

ADVANCEMENT

Goal 19: Mount Michael Benedictine School will design and implement a well-defined, integrated, collaborative and accountable advancement office that serves the needs of the abbey, the school and the alumni.

Goal 20: Mount Michael Benedictine School will create and project a comprehensive and consistent message concerning its identity that will be used by all associated with the campus.

TECHNOLOGY

Goal 21: Mount Michael Benedictine School will be the acknowledged technology leader for college prep high schools in the region.
