Why Mount Michael?

DOWNLOAD BROCHURE

“The Mount has given me the opportunity to form more than just friendships with classmates. After boarding for four years, I can truly say that I consider many of my classmates as brothers. This bonding never would have occurred without the opportunities that the boarding life provided for us.”

“Mount Michael has provided me with the opportunity to share an atmosphere of learning where I was supported along the whole way: by deans, teachers, and classmates. Intellectual development is a key focus at The Mount, and there is an abundance of opportunities to explore that growth in the classroom and with classmates in the dorms that cannot be found anywhere else.” – Ben Bies ’18

“The classes are small so you won’t get lost in the crowd, and the coursework is challenging. The students are in it together though, and we help each other succeed.”

“We have this bond that will never be broken because we really knew each other at Mount Michael. My classmates knew my personality so well, they could guess my response to different situations.” – Armel Mignondje ’18

The best thing about Mount Michael is that the students care a lot about their education. For example, over the years that I have been a coach, I find it not uncommon for students to be discussing novels, physics problems, world issues, etc. on the way home from a competition. Parents also care a lot about their son’s education and are here to help students and Mount Michael become better.

Are Mount Michael grads different from the average college student? You had better believe it. I've been teaching college economics for 20 years and I get students from many different disciplines, socio-economic backgrounds, and from all over the world. What makes Mount Michael students special goes beyond their grades.

It's about their attitude toward learning. I'm sure I'll find an exception one day, but until then I can fully profess that Mount Michael grads come to class prepared and take ownership of their performance without making excuses. I was so impressed with them that both my sons attended and graduated from Mount Michael."

- Tim Bastian, Mount Michael alumni parent and professor at Creighton University

A favorite family quote is, "You cannot be what you cannot see." Through its structured, supportive learning environment, Mount Michael helps each young man create his own vision for a bright, fulfilling future. With the offering of smaller class sizes and a variety of clubs, sports and activities, each boy's unique talents and gifts can be revealed, allowing him to play to his strengths and to feel successful.”

- Scott and Shelley Wedergren, Mount Michael parents
