Cheney ’04 receives award

Mount Michael Alum Justin Cheney ’04, a videographer and editor for NET the local PBS station,  along with 2 of his colleagues won a Heartland Regional Emmy award for a segment they produced entitled ‘Winston, Young Composer’. The segment is a about Winston Schneider, a fifth-grader from Omaha who won  the National Association for Music Education composer’s competition for his piece, “Scherzo of the Feather Stars.” This story is part of  “What If…” a program exploring innovation and creativity in Nebraska.

Winston Schneider is just a typical Omaha fifth grader who likes Legos, insects, Star Wars…and composing classical music. This year he won the National Association for Music Education composer’s competition for his piece, “Scherzo of the Feather Stars.” And yes, insects inspire the music he creates. This story is part of  “What If…” a program exploring innovation and creativity in Nebraska.
