Diversity Day

02/12/19

The Mount Michael School community sets aside a day every year devoted to promoting reflection and understanding of diversity in our school and larger community.  Usually this occurs on Martin Luther King Day but because of a snow day it was moved to February 12th the birthday of Abraham Lincoln.

This year everyone gathered in the chapel to watch Martin Luther King give his speech in front of the Lincoln Memorial. Afterwards they broke into groups to discuss what they heard

There were three additional breakout sessions dealing with diversity, personal perceptions and prejudice.

The hope is that through reflection and discussion there will be greater understanding and appreciation of everyone’s common humanity.

The day concluded with the celebration of the Eucharist in the Chapel.
