New Websites for .com and .org

07/11/18

In case you haven’t noticed, we have two new websites!

It has been many years since Mount Michael last launched new websites. Since that time much of the worlds website traffic has moved to mobile devices. The old websites were not mobile friendly or web adaptive to different devices. The upgrade was far overdue.

A committee was formed to find a web design provider and plan a new website. The committee consisted of Dr. Peters (Head of School), Dave Cormier (Dean of Students) Francesca Donovan (Advancement), Jack Pritchard and Tom Maliszewski (Admissions) and Bro. Luke Clinton OSB (Webmaster)

The group starting meeting in the fall of 2017 and in November picked Chip Thompson Design to design and create the new websites. The group then met regularly starting in late January to discuss the design and features.  Actual construction began in March.

One thing you will notice is that mountmichael.net which was our news blog is now incorporated into the new websites and features separate blogs for the Abbey and School. Our .net domain will be held in reserve for possible use in the future.

The websites look and function similarly. The primary visual difference is the color scheme. The Abbey uses a white banner while the school uses a red banner and the “reverse” Logo. The reverse logo is designed to only be used on red backgrounds such as this website and red “Knight” clothing and gear. In the About section of the school’s website, a page is devoted to our brand standards. The standards were developed in the early fall of 2017. The brand page describes the proper use of brand colors, fonts and Logos/Marks. Brand files are available on that page in a zip file. We ask that you please read and follow the downloadable guide when using our brand for Mount Michael Abbey and School.

Big thanks goes out to the Booster Club for helping fund the project.
