When speaking to a prospective student about Mount Michael it’s important that you share your personal stories and successes. These are the things that make Mount Michael special for you.

At the same time, we hope you can share a few things that we know set us apart from many other schools. Each of these three distinct qualities is directly connected to our Benedictine values and heritage.

Our unique relationship to Mount Michael Abbey

Most Catholic schools have at most one or two religious working at the school; Mount Michael has an entire monastic community whose presence is felt throughout the day. Whether in the classroom or in the hallways, the monks are deeply involved in the life of Mount Michael Benedictine School.

Student Referral Process

While you may know the value of a Mount Michael education, many families and young men simply don’t know about “The Mount.” It has long been said that Mount Michael Benedictine is the Midwest’s best kept secret. We would like that to change!

You can help make sure that the families with sons in the 6th-8th grade who you know have a chance to check out “The Mount.” by referring them to the Admission Office. Here ’s how:

1. Identify Prospective Students

We are looking for names/information of prospective 6th-8th graders who are well-rounded, academically oriented students -Individuals who can help maintain Mount Michael’s high standards and who you think would be great candidates for Mount Michael. If the student is an 8th grader it is important that you submit his name ASAP, particularly by November 1st if possible, although we appreciate any contact information you can provide.

3. Talk us up

Don’t forget to tell prospective students and families about Mount Michael. We can mail brochures, provide our web site address, set up tours, set up shadow days. Our most effective recruiting tool is our families, friends and alums. Your personal story will say more about the nature of “The Mount” than anything we can do—short of having the student visit the campus. *

4. Next steps

Once you’ve made the referral and talked to the student & family, the Admission Office will begin our process of letting them know more about Mount Michael Benedictine. Please note that The Mount Michael Admissions office will begin corresponding with them as early as 2 weeks after you make the referral.

*The single most influential part of the admissions process is getting students on campus for a visit.
