Benedictine values encompass a broad range of concepts that are central to life within a Christian community. It is quite possible to literally perceive dozens of values that can be deemed as Benedictine in nature. This a testimony to the breadth of “The Rule” and communal life established by Saint Benedict.

Freshmen Formation Retreat
September 7 marked the day for the Freshmen of MM’s retreat. This retreat is entitled Freshmen Formation. It is based on the type of formation that happens to a novice when he enters a monastery. All the freshmen receive The Rule of Benedict. It is a gift from the alumni of MM. Much of the history of MM — both school and abbey — are presented to the frosh on this day. This year Thomas Maliszewski — alum of 2013, John VonDollen— alum of 20i2, and Coach Burrell helped as. It was a good day, set apart to pray, learn and relax. All enjoyed a non-rushed lunch — home cooking. All freshmen should now be able to list the Benedictine Values and tell you who Rex Olson is. Thank you, freshmen for being docile and willing to be formed. Please remember, you can only be formed if you are docile.
