Mount Michael Alumnus Honored at 2024 Abbot’s Table Convention

On Saturday evening, Abbot Michael attended the Abbot’s Table at the Overland Park Convention Center in Overland Park. St. Benedict’s Abbey in Atchison, Kansas honored an alumnus of Benedictine College, Sylvester Schieber, and his wife Vicki with the Lumen Vitae award (Light of Life). Sylvester is also a 1964 alumnus of St. John Seminary (Mount Michael Benedictine School). The award was a recognition of their efforts in opposition to capital punishment in this country. Their daughter had been murdered and they did not believe the one responsible should be executed. He and his wife had invited Abbot Michael to attend the event – similar to our Night of Knights.
